The Problem

JupiterResearch, a division of Jupitermedia (Nasdaq: JUPM), is shaping worldwide dialogue about the Internet and emerging consumer technologies.  However, even though the company is viewed as a leading authority for its groundbreaking research and strategic advice, JupiterResearch wanted to increase its coverage in top-tier print, broadcast and online media.  Additionally, when the media contacted analysts directly, they couldn’t always respond in time to meet reporters’ deadlines. Executives at JupiterResearch needed an agency that could provide quick-response, as well as pro-active outreach, so that media would provide even greater positive coverage.  To evaluate the effectiveness of its public relations, JupiterResearch uses several metrics, including responsiveness to the media, proactive outreach to editors and reporters, service to the firm’s analysts, and various measurements of how the company is represented in the news.

The Solution

Peter Arnold Associates (PAA) implemented a proprietary on-demand process.  To every request from a print, online or broadcast reporter, editor, columnist, or broadcast producer who is on deadline, for example, PAA responds within 60 minutes.  We also conduct proactive outreach, streamline requests, target them to the appropriate analysts, and then follow up conscientiously until we get closure.  In addition, we tailor our interaction with each of JupiterResearch’s leading analysts to ensure that their valuable time is utilized efficiently.  We also use a number of tracking systems that monitor and report on our results.

The Results

From The Wall Street Journal to CNN to hundreds of media outlets in between, 24 hours a day, PAA has been able to meet reporters’ demanding deadline requirements 97% of the time – even though many inquiries are for interviews with analysts who are not immediately available.  PAA provides JupiterResearch with weekly reports that include detailed results and the status of mutually agreed upon measurement goals.  We have received congratulatory emails and phone calls from JupiterResearch analysts, as well as the reporters and editors who cover them, for the excellent service we provide.
